Daniel "Allen" Griffith, age 85, of Wellston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017 doing what he loved most, farming. He was born April 16, 1932 in Coalton, Ohio to the late Daniel Arthur Griffith and Oleta Clark Griffith. Allen was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Allen was employed with McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing for 34 years and then later worked for and retired from the New Boston Coke Corporation as a plant engineer. Allen attended The Old Country Church and enjoyed taking care of the family farms and gardening. He is survived by his children, Robin Lynn Justice (Levi) of McArthur, Neal G. Griffith (Debbie) of Coalton, William A. "Bill" Griffith (Mellisa) of Wellston, and Phil A. Griffith (Dianna) of Wellston; sisters Beverly Swanney and Doris Brandau; grandchildren, Jacob, Amber, Luke, Meagan, Ryan, Billy, Jennilyn, Jessica and Rachel as well as 8 great grandchildren and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen L. Griffith; sons Mark Allen Griffith and Daniel Edward Griffith; brother, Carl Griffith and sister Frita Grant. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Dwight A. Tilley Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
