Irma Imogene Downard, age 89 of Seton Square, Wellston, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. She was born February 16, 1928 in Coalton, Ohio to the late Harry and Grace Dixon Lucas. Imogene was a 1946 graduate of Coalton High School. On August 10, 1946, she married George Edward Downard, to whom she was married for 40 years at the time of his death in November, 1986. Imogene was a homemaker all of her life and when she did work outside of the home, it was in shoe sales at Luckoff's in Jackson, and then later, at Chambers and Winkler's in Wellston. She was a former member of the Wellston Jr. Study Club and enjoyed several years of performing in the Wellston Rotary Minstrel Show. Imogene was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Coalton, where over the years she served at different times as a Sunday School teacher and song leader. She always enjoyed being involved with church activities, along with traveling and spending time with her family. Imogene is survived by her 4 children, Peggy Shumate (Bill) of Wellston, Connie Schultz (Tom) of Vernal, Utah, Myron "Skip" Downard (Leann) of Powell and H. Thomas Downard of Wellston; grandchildren, Ronda Moore (Mike), Lee Schultz (Tonya), Ron Nichols (Traci), Tonya Craven (Matt), Jason Downard, Christina Daggett (Phil), Tiffanie Paige (Adam), Matt Downard (Liz) and Derrek Downard (Lea); brother, Max Lucas of Coshocton, as well as 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Imogene was preceded in death by brother, Myron Lucas, and sisters, Marjorie Lucas, Joan Lucas and Maxine Miller. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in the Byer Cemetery.
