Leo C. Cox, age 72, of Orville, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Life Care Hospice Facility in Wooster, Ohio. He was born August 5, 1944 in Craigsville, West Virginia to the late Arnold L. Cox and Della Arlene Sparks Cox. Leo was a 40 year member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed hunting turkey, deer and squirrel, along with being an avid fisherman. Leo is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ada Marie Smith Cox; children, Elizabeth Cox of Jackson, Tim Clayton Cox (Joyce) of Akron, Leona Cox (Salvador Pablo) of North Carolina, Rebecca Abbott (Bruce) of London, Oh., Betty Jo Sawyer of Jackson, Ada Leeann Cox of Dayton and Brandon Cox of North Carolina; brother, Ray Cox (Jackie) of Craigsville W.Va.; sisters, Phyllis Dobson (Dallas) of North Carolina, Lou Shifflett (Paul) of Craigsville, W.Va., and Rosie Belcher (Bob) of Craigsville, W.Va., as well as 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Corky Cox. Calling hours will be Saturday from 12 to 2 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 P.M. with Pastor Ken Toops officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Ridge Cemetery. For those who wish, the family would appreciate contributions be given to the McWilliams Funeral Home to help with expenses.
