Maxine Winters, age 84, of Wellston, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born July 23, 1927 in Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Thomas Gilliland and Dora Taylor Gilliland. Maxine was a 1945 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Hamden United Methodist Church and the Washington Grange. Maxine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lynda Winters of Wellston; grandson, Todd Winters (Marie) of Prattsville; great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Kassidee; sister, Lucille Cartwright of Zanesville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Winters; brothers, Charles Gilliland and Thomas Gilliland, Jr., and sisters, Nettie Vincil, Callie Waldron, Ruth Bragg and Lola Stevens. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
